Hello Marci
As I was sitting here the other day,Pete Rinner popped into my head. I wondered about how you & your family were doing and wondered if you still had Pete's site going. So today I took the time to look it up, I am very impressed on how well this is going. Doesn't seem that long ago that this happened. I just want to let you know I think of you alot and I hope this has made a big difference in your life.
A job well done Marci.
Love: Ruthann
I do some counseling in my area also. I have never dealt with drugs, nor anyone close to me. But, I have learned alot in couseling people. Where you are taking your lose, to help others is so great. Like you I feel it is easier to teach about the dangers before they start, than trying to get a person to become drug free for life. So many people don't know the signs. I will use your information. You will never know how many people you help! May God lead you and guide your steps always.

It's a very sad fact that only 3 percent of heroin addicts that seek recovery actually stay around long enough to get it. Treatment centers are a beginning but are not enough. If you want recovery from addiction and are willing to do the work the only thing I know that is effective is a 12 step program. In working the 12 steps an addict will learn a new way of life and that is vital because an addict who just abstains will find himself in such misery that he finds he has no choice but to use. They just don't know any other way and no one is strong enough by himself to beat the disease of addiction.Help is out there if you truly want it. I'm an addict in recovery with 4 years clean. I never could have gotten to this point without help from my support group and a belief in a higher power. You must take that first step, admitting that you are powerless over your addiction and your life has become unmamageable. You will find yourself on the right path it will be up to you to stay on it.One more thing. This is for the rest of your life. You really only have 4 choices jail,an institution, death, or recovery, an addict named Steve

Just want to tell you how your courage has touched me. I too have a daughter that is addicted to herion. She is currently in jail (60days today)because I refuse to get her out until she seeks counseling. Right now that is not an option in her book. She is very aggressive to me and demanding - but I am the only one available to her besides her boyfriend who is an addict also and has no means to get her out. So I am just waiting for her to hit rock bottom and admit her addiction and want help before I will seek to get her out. I sat and listened to you and cried the whole time because I know that if my daughter is on the streets again she may end up like your brother. Thanks for sharing but realize there are so many out there just like you. And you need to continue to educate parents and schools of the dangers. Thank you, Wendy
